Komodo Honeymoon Charter: Cabin, Privacy, Decoration & Price

For a honeymoon on Mutiara Cruise Phinisi, ask for a Master Family Suite: king bed, private balcony, private en-suite, sea view, upper deck. There is no couples-only rate — a whole-boat charter is priced by band, so two guests pay the 6–14 band: USD 8,250 for 2D1N, USD 14,300 for 3D2N. Decoration and private dinners are quoted separately.

The honest part first

A private charter is not a honeymoon package with a small price tag. You are chartering a 47-metre vessel with ten cabins and a full crew. Two people can absolutely do it — several do every season — but the invoice is the boat, not the couple. Knowing that before you enquire saves a disappointing conversation.

Mutiara Cruise Phinisi — published whole-boat charter rates (USD, checked 1 August 2026)
Package6–14 guests15–21 guests22–28 guests
2D1NUSD 8,250USD 8,800USD 9,150
3D2NUSD 14,300USD 14,800USD 15,450
4D3NUSD 19,350USD 19,900USD 20,600
5D4NUSD 23,150USD 23,750USD 24,350
6D5NUSD 26,800USD 27,500USD 28,000

These are whole-boat prices, not per person. The headline rate the operator advertises — “from USD 8,250 per night” — is the 2D1N charter for a group of 6 to 14. Note how flat the bands are: taking a 3D2N charter from 14 guests to 28 guests adds only USD 1,150 to the total, because you are paying for the vessel and crew, not for seats.

Which cabin, and why

All ten cabins are air-conditioned with an en-suite bathroom. Read the table honestly: the five listed configurations add up to 26 berths, while the published maximum is 28 guests — the last two places use extra bedding. If your group is 27 or 28, confirm the sleeping plan with reservations before you commit.

For a couple the choice is straightforward. The Master Family Suite is the only configuration with a king bed, and it pairs that with a private balcony and a sea view on the upper deck. The Master Suite is the fallback — same balcony and sea view, queen bed, laid out for three. The Junior Suites and the two triple categories are lower-deck, porthole-view rooms: quieter under way, but not the room you want for this trip.

Everything that makes a night feel designed — a decorated cabin, a beach dinner set up on the sand, a photographer, a specific cake, a particular wine — sits outside the published rate and is quoted on request. We do not publish invented prices for those items; ask reservations for a written quote alongside your dates. What is already on board at no extra cost, per the operator’s facility list, is the Jacuzzi, the beach BBQ setup, the alfresco lounge and the promenade deck.

The romantic geography of the standard route

Two moments are worth planning the whole trip around, and both are in the published 3D2N itinerary. The first is 16:30 at Kalong Island, when the flying-fox colony lifts off the mangroves at sunset and the boat sits at anchor for the night. The second is 06:00 on Padar, when a charter can be on the ridge before the shared fleet has even left Labuan Bajo. Between them sits Pink Beach at 09:00 and the manta drift at Karang Makassar in the early afternoon.

Sailing legs on the standard Komodo loop (operational estimates, not an official distance table)
LegApproximate sailing time
Labuan Bajo → Kelorabout 1 hour (verified across operator schedules)
Kelor → Manjariteabout 30–60 minutes
Manjarite → Kalongabout 1 hour
Kalong → Padar (overnight passage)about 3–4 hours
Padar → Pink Beachabout 1–1.5 hours
Pink Beach → Komodo Islandabout 30–60 minutes
Komodo → Manta Point (Karang Makassar)about 30–60 minutes
Manta Point → Taka Makassarabout 20–30 minutes
Taka Makassar → Siabaabout 1–1.5 hours
Siaba → Kanawa / Sebayurabout 1–1.5 hours

Only the first leg is published as a fixed figure by operators; the rest are working estimates drawn from real departure and arrival windows. A 47-metre phinisi cruising at 5–10 knots sits at the slower end of these ranges under load, which is why the overnight passage to Padar is run while guests sleep.

Season

Komodo sailing conditions by season
PeriodSea and visibilityWhat it means for a charter
April–JuneCalmest water, best visibilityBest all-round window; shoulder pricing
July–AugustGood visibility, but wind in the open straits and around PadarPeak demand — book earliest, expect the tightest availability
September–NovemberCalm again, strong visibilityThe quiet favourite; same conditions as April–June with fewer boats
December–MarchMonsoon, roughest sea, some vessels in maintenanceHighest cancellation risk — but this is peak manta season at Karang Makassar and Manta Alley

If your dates are flexible, September to November is the quiet favourite: the same flat water as April to June, with fewer boats on the same anchorages.

Best for

  • Couples travelling with family or friends. The strongest use of this hull — take a Master Family Suite and fill the other nine cabins with the people you actually want there.
  • Vow renewals and anniversary sailings. See the cost structure on our wedding and vow renewal page.
  • Couples who want a bigger, steadier vessel — 47 metres with a 10.9-metre beam holds its line in the straits far better than a 23–30 metre hull.
  • Less suited to a couple wanting the smallest possible boat; the value is in the space you would not be using.

Raja Ampat honeymoons run on a different calendar and a different vessel — the detail is on our Raja Ampat charter page. And if you would rather have the whole route planned around the two of you, that is exactly the brief the honeymoon cruise planning team at the operator handles day to day.

How to check dates and book

Tell reservations which dates and which suite, and ask for the extras quote in the same message. Charter dates for Mutiara Cruise Phinisi are held by the reservations desk of Komodo Luxury, the operator that markets and charters the vessel, in business since 2015 and part of Juara Holding Group. A booking is confirmed with a 50% deposit; the balance is due no later than 30 days before departure.

Ask for the current rate sheet in writing before you transfer anything. Rates apply to the year in which they are issued and are adjusted annually.

Frequently asked questions

Which cabin is best for a honeymoon on Mutiara Phinisi?

The Master Family Suite. Two of them exist, each with a king bed, private balcony, private en-suite, air conditioning and a sea view on the upper deck. The two Master Suites also have balconies and sea views but are laid out for three guests.

Can a couple charter the whole boat alone?

Yes, and the rate is the 6–14 guest band: USD 8,250 for 2D1N, USD 14,300 for 3D2N and USD 19,350 for 4D3N. There is no two-person rate on a whole-boat charter — you are buying the vessel, not a cabin.

Is there a honeymoon package price?

There is no separately published honeymoon rate. The charter rate is the price; decoration, special menus, a private beach dinner and photography are quoted per request. Ask for those quotes in writing at the same time you ask for dates.

How private is a cabin with a balcony?

The four upper-deck suites open onto their own balcony space rather than a shared walkway, and each has a private bathroom. On a whole-boat charter the only other people aboard are your own group and the crew.

Does the boat have a Jacuzzi?

Yes — Jacuzzis are on the operator’s published facility list, alongside a beach BBQ setup, live music and DJ setup, an indoor dining area, an alfresco lounge and a promenade deck.

What is the most romantic point in the standard itinerary?

Two: sunset at Kalong on day one, when thousands of flying foxes lift off the mangroves while the boat sits at anchor, and the 06:00 climb on Padar before any other vessel has arrived.

When is the best month for a honeymoon sailing?

April to June and September to November — calmest seas, best visibility, shoulder pricing. July and August have good visibility but wind around Padar and the open straits, plus the tightest availability of the year.

Are alcoholic drinks included?

No. Alcohol is explicitly outside the charter rate, as are personal insurance, extra land transport and additional diving requests. All meals, coffee break, airport transfer and guide are included.

Vessel and rate data on this page is taken from the operator’s published Mutiara Cruise Phinisi listing and was checked on 1 August 2026. Rates are reviewed annually and can change with fuel costs, added routes and government regulation. Confirm the current figure in writing before paying a deposit.

Couples taking a single cabin rather than the whole boat can start with honeymoon cruise planning with the operator team, which covers the same privacy question on shared departures.
