A phinisi wedding or vow renewal on Mutiara Cruise Phinisi is capped at 28 guests, and the charter component is published: USD 9,150 for 2D1N or USD 15,450 for 3D2N at the 22–28 band. Treat the ceremony at sea as symbolic — legal marriage in Indonesia is registered ashore through the civil registry. Everything else is quoted per event.
Start with the number that constrains everything: 28
Guest capacity is not a soft figure. The vessel’s published maximum is 28 guests across 10 cabins, and the five listed cabin configurations account for 26 berths, with the last two places on extra bedding. A ceremony for 40 people cannot happen on this hull as a single overnight event. It can happen as a daytime ceremony with a second vessel, or as a shore event with the boat as the backdrop — but plan for 28 and the rest of the logistics fall into place.
| Cabin type | Cabins | Guests each | Bed | Bathroom | Balcony | View |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Master Family Suite | 2 | 2 | King | Private | Private balcony | Sea view |
| Master Suite | 2 | 3 | Queen | Private | Private balcony | Sea view |
| Junior Suite | 2 | 2 | Queen | Private | — | Porthole |
| Deluxe Triple | 2 | 3 | 2 single + 1 bunk | Private | — | Porthole |
| Superior Triple | 2 | 3 | Queen + bunk beds | Private | — | Porthole |
All ten cabins are air-conditioned with an en-suite bathroom. Read the table honestly: the five listed configurations add up to 26 berths, while the published maximum is 28 guests — the last two places use extra bedding. If your group is 27 or 28, confirm the sleeping plan with reservations before you commit.
The cost table, split honestly into “published” and “quoted”
We will not invent numbers for florists and celebrants. Here is what is genuinely published, and what is genuinely a quote.
| Line item | Status | Figure |
|---|---|---|
| Charter, 2D1N, 22–28 guests | Published | USD 9,150 |
| Charter, 3D2N, 22–28 guests | Published | USD 15,450 |
| Charter, 4D3N, 22–28 guests | Published | USD 20,600 |
| All meals, coffee break, airport transfer, guide, port fees, Jasa Rahardja insurance | Published — included | Inside the charter rate |
| Park entry, foreign guests | Published | Rp 250,000 official + USD 100 Komodo & Padar + USD 40 Rinca per person |
| Alcohol, extended bar | Excluded | Quoted per request |
| Ceremony decoration and floral work | Quoted | Per request — no published rate |
| Celebrant, MC, music beyond the on-board setup | Quoted | Per request — no published rate |
| Photography and video beyond standard trip documentation | Quoted | Per request — no published rate |
| Additional land transport for guests | Excluded | Quoted per request |
Note that trip documentation is already included in the standard charter — the crew photographs and films the voyage. For a wedding most couples still bring a dedicated photographer; ask for that quote separately.
Permits and legality — read this before you print invitations
Here is the part most wedding pages skip. In Indonesia a legally valid marriage is concluded through the religious ceremony and then recorded with the civil registry (Dinas Dukcapil) ashore. A ceremony conducted on a vessel in Komodo National Park should be planned as a symbolic ceremony, blessing or vow renewal, with the legal registration handled separately — usually in your home country, or onshore with the relevant office before or after the sailing.
We are not a legal adviser and requirements change; confirm the current position with the Dinas Dukcapil office or your embassy before fixing a date. What we can state with certainty is the operational side: the vessel handles port clearance for every departure, carries Jasa Rahardja insurance, and operates inside a national park where every guest pays entry charges regardless of the occasion.
| Line | Foreign visitor | Indonesian visitor | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Official park entry, PP No. 36/2024 | Rp 250,000 per person per visit | Rp 50,000 weekday · Rp 75,000 weekend and public holiday | Balai Taman Nasional Komodo / KLHK |
| Komodo Island site charge collected by the operator | USD 100 per person (Komodo + Padar combined) | Rp 200,000 per 5 guests | Operator rate card |
| Padar Island | included in the USD 100 above | Rp 150,000 per 5 guests | Operator rate card |
| Rinca Island | USD 40 per person | Rp 100,000 per person | Operator rate card |
| Gili Lawa | USD 25 per person | — | Operator rate card |
The two rows are not in conflict, and this is the single point most trip pages get wrong. Rp 250,000 is the national-park entry tariff set by regulation. The figures you see quoted by boat operators — and the Rp 600,000 or Rp 650,000 numbers circulating on comparison blogs — are bundles: park entry plus regional retribution plus ranger and trail-management charges for each specific site. The Rp 3,750,000 “conservation membership” proposed in 2022 was cancelled and is not payable.
Timing the event within the route
A 3D2N charter gives you one clean ceremony day. Day one sails out and sets up; day two holds the ceremony; day three returns to Labuan Bajo before midday. The published itinerary puts the boat at Kalong at 16:30 on day one and on Padar at 06:00 on day two — both are used as ceremony settings, along with Pink Beach at mid-morning.
| Period | Sea and visibility | What it means for a charter |
|---|---|---|
| April–June | Calmest water, best visibility | Best all-round window; shoulder pricing |
| July–August | Good visibility, but wind in the open straits and around Padar | Peak demand — book earliest, expect the tightest availability |
| September–November | Calm again, strong visibility | The quiet favourite; same conditions as April–June with fewer boats |
| December–March | Monsoon, roughest sea, some vessels in maintenance | Highest cancellation risk — but this is peak manta season at Karang Makassar and Manta Alley |
For an outdoor ceremony, April to June and September to November are the defensible choices. December to March is peak manta season but carries genuine cancellation risk, and a wedding is not the trip to gamble on weather.
Best for
- Intimate weddings of 15–28 guests where the whole party sails together.
- Vow renewals and anniversary charters — no registration complexity at all.
- Couples marrying legally at home and holding the celebration in Komodo.
- Not suitable for guest lists above 28 on a single vessel, or for anyone who needs the ceremony itself to be the legal act.
Families building the guest list around children should also read the family charter page for cabin configurations and the child-rate policy, and the timing page if you want the ceremony anchorage to yourselves. Everything the boat is contractually obliged to provide is listed on our line-by-line inclusions page.

Frequently asked questions
How many guests can attend a wedding on Mutiara Phinisi?
The vessel is licensed for up to 28 guests overnight in 10 cabins. For a daytime ceremony the deck holds the same 28 comfortably. If your guest list is larger than 28, the event has to run from two vessels or from a shore venue with the boat as the ceremony platform.
What does it cost to hold a wedding on the boat?
The charter itself is published: USD 9,150 for 2D1N and USD 15,450 for 3D2N at the 22–28 guest band. Decoration, celebrant, extended catering, floral work and photography are quoted per request — we do not publish estimates for those.
Is a wedding on a boat in Indonesia legally binding?
Treat a ceremony at sea as symbolic. Legal marriage in Indonesia is recorded through the religious ceremony plus civil registration at the local Dinas Dukcapil office ashore. Confirm the current requirements with the civil registry or your embassy before fixing dates.
Can we do a vow renewal instead?
Yes, and it is the simpler option — a vow renewal carries no civil registration requirement at all. Most on-board ceremonies here are vow renewals or symbolic blessings, with the legal step handled at home.
How many nights should a wedding charter be?
Three days and two nights is the practical minimum: day one to sail out and set up, day two for the ceremony at a chosen anchorage, day three to return. The published 3D2N charter is USD 15,450 for 22–28 guests.
Where on the route do ceremonies usually happen?
Most often at anchor off Padar or at Pink Beach in the late afternoon, or on the beach itself using the boat’s beach BBQ setup. The operator’s facility list also includes live music and a DJ setup on board.
Do guests still pay national park fees?
Yes — every person aboard pays park charges regardless of the occasion. Foreign visitors pay Rp 250,000 official entry under PP 36/2024, plus operator-collected site charges of USD 100 for Komodo and Padar, USD 40 for Rinca and USD 25 for Gili Lawa.
How far in advance should a wedding charter be booked?
As early as possible for July and August, which is peak season with the tightest availability. Bookings made a year ahead take a 30% deposit, with a further 20% at 120 days and the balance 30 days before departure.
Vessel and rate data on this page is taken from the operator’s published Mutiara Cruise Phinisi listing and was checked on 1 August 2026. Rates are reviewed annually and can change with fuel costs, added routes and government regulation. Confirm the current figure in writing before paying a deposit.
