Komodo Charter Calendar 2027: Month by Month Sea, Crowds and Availability

For 2027, April–June and September–November are the best all-round charter windows; July–August is peak demand with wind in the open straits; December–March is monsoon and peak manta season at once. The charter rate card does not change by month — what changes is sea state, crowd pressure and how far ahead you have to commit.

One caveat stated plainly: Indonesian public holiday periods lift domestic demand sharply, and the 2027 dates for Idul Fitri and other national holidays are set by government decree. Check the official 2027 calendar before fixing dates rather than relying on any travel page — including this one — to have them right.
The three windows that matter

If we had to name one month for 2027, it would be October: calm water, strong visibility, the shared fleet thinned out and no seasonal premium on the charter rate — because there is no seasonal premium at all. The rate card runs from USD 8,250 for a 2D1N to USD 28,000 for a 6D5N at full capacity, identical in every month of the year.
Diving through the year
Water temperature and visibility divide the park in two, which most calendars miss entirely. In the north and centre, expect 27–29 °C between November and April, 26–28 °C from May to October, and visibility of 15–30 metres. In the south, Indian Ocean upwelling pushes temperatures down to 21–25 °C at the June–September peak and 23–26 °C in the shoulder months, with a sharp thermocline and visibility of 10–20 metres.
The practical consequence: if your group wants Manta Alley and the southern sites, bring a thicker wetsuit than a Komodo brochure photograph suggests. What does not change from month to month
Three things stay constant all year and are worth holding on to while you compare months. The charter rate card does not move by season. The park fee structure does not move by season — Rp 250,000 per foreign visitor per visit under PP No. 36/2024, with operator-collected site charges of USD 100 for Komodo and Padar, USD 40 for Rinca and USD 25 for Gili Lawa. And the vessel itself does not change: 10 air-conditioned en-suite cabins, a maximum of 28 guests, two generators and a 6,000 litre per day water maker, in January exactly as in August. How lead time and month interact
The operator supports bookings roughly a year ahead with a staged ladder: 30% to confirm, 20% at 120 days, the balance at 30 days. Standard bookings are 50% deposit with the balance at 30 days. Both routes involve a non-refundable deposit and no right to reschedule, which is why month choice is also a risk choice — a January charter carries more weather risk than an October one, and the published force majeure position provides no refund.
